How I joined Decagon and started building an app to solve a problem in the real estate sector
One of the things about being an entrepreneur is the ability to move regardless of obstacles. In 2020, I remember how I was kicked out of my aunt’s house based on the fact that some people (females) from her husband’s side were coming to stay with them, and because I’m a male I couldn’t stay. In as much as I understood that was a legitimate reason, I couldn’t comprehend how they could just ask me to leave the house like that, and I had just gotten a designer role at Decagon. In my eyes I was the next big thing, I was carrying potential and Decagon saw that, how on earth could they not see this? I had nowhere else on the island to go to except calling Ugwumba Desire Chukwudi Michael Oragwa who were my colleagues, thank God for Ugwumba Desire Chukwudi. Without too much explaining I was already crashing on his couch.
After a few months, I gotten promoted in Decagon I got a 120percent increase in salary and accommodation was provided to be paid for on monthly basis. You could see the joy written all over my face, I have made it in life!!!😁. But every day at work I was looking for ways to solve this problem because I felt a lot of Young people would go through the same problem especially when you are just starting out in life.
This start-up led by Tochi reached out to me, trying to solve the same problem I have been through that is to ensure both tenants and landlords have peace of mind. So I join his team. The model helps property managers and landlords manage their property. From one dashboard they know who and who is supposed to pay this month or next year from one click. For the tenants, you can pay your rent monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, and annually if you like, and guess what? we are working on removing agents and agreement fees 😃😃isn’t that amazing? our software is now ready after months of work, I Designed the whole app and I would really love to walk you through it.
